Phil Harwood is a managing partner with GrowTheBench.com, one of three companies he has founded since retiring from a successful landscape & snow management career. Phil holds an Executive MBA with honors and Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing, both from Michigan State University. He was nominated “Alumnus of the Decade” by Michigan State’s Executive MBA Program. In addition, he is a Certified Snow Professional, Landscape Industry Certified Manager, National Association of Landscape Professionals Trailblazer, and Landscape Ontario Preferred Consultant.

Phil is a management consultant, frequent guest speaker, and contributing writer for several publications and websites. His consulting firm, Pro-Motion Consulting, has been recognized twice by the Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA) with the prestigious Snow Industry Commitment Award.


Neal Glatt is a managing partner with GrowTheBench.com. In his career as a snow contractor, Neal joined Case Snow Management, Inc., as an Account Executive in 2010. The company owned a single pick-up truck and had annual revenues of less than $1 million. Leading the sales effort and serving as part of the leadership team, Neal helped the company exceed $40 million in annual sales before beginning his own coaching practice in 2017. During that time, Neal discovered the power of focusing on strengths and the ability of strong leadership to influence amazing results. His passion is to help other people also find fulfillment and success in life. He is a Certified Strengths Coach through Gallup and a John Maxwell Certified Coach, Speaker, and Trainer.

Neal earned Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Marketing and Spanish from Northern Michigan University. He is a regular columnist for Snow Business magazine and lives in Hopkinton, MA. John Allin is currently a full time consultant to the snow industry and was President of Snow Management Group and subsequently President of Snow Dragon, LLC.  He is the Founder of the Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA), and served as its national Board President for 6 years.  He was instrumental in the formation of the Accredited Snow Contractors Association (ASCA).  He has been involved in the snow & ice management industry for over 50 years.  Because of his extensive knowledge in the industry, combined with his vast experience, Allin is recognized as the foremost snow and ice industry consultant in the country today.

A popular and internationally recognized speaker and seminar leader, Allin has spoken about the snow and ice industry at industry trade shows all over the United States, Canada, Scandinavia, Europe and Asia.  He has also been qualified as an expert witness on snow and ice management in numerous states around the country, and regularly assists legal representatives in actions involving winter accidents.  Allin understands the needs of the industry and founded Snowfighters Institute to fill the gaping hole that existed in dedicated training for the industry.

Peggy Allin was the first woman to pass the Snow & Ice Management Association’s Certified Snow Professional (CSP) exam.  She is an expert in Human Relations and Service Provider Management. Peggy managed thousands of service providers across much of the United States during her tenure with Snow Management Group where she developed/managed all aspects of the human resources department for the company with $40 million in managed contracts. Peggy has over 25 years of experience in the snow and ice management industry.  Peggy has passed the ISO Certified Auditor Exam. She handles all ISO Gap Assessments for John Allin Consulting and also facilitates the ISO Events put on by Snowfighters Institute.

Ferguson is a Partner in the Commercial General Liability and Business Liability, Construction and Design Law and Commercial and Complex Litigation groups at Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP.

Mr. Ferguson’s commercial general liability practice includes defense of premises liability and transportation cases.

In the transportation arena, he has litigated cases involving personal and commercial vehicles, including trucking and motor coach claims.  Further, Mr. Ferguson has a rapid response team in place to respond to emergencies and catastrophic events.

Mr. Ferguson’s Construction and Design Law practice includes defense of commercial and residential construction defect claims.

Mr. Ferguson’s Commercial and Complex Litigation practice includes contract dispute claims and corporate litigation.

Mr. Ferguson serves as general counsel for a wide variety of businesses, including those in the construction, property management, snow and ice management, and landscaping industries. Mr. Ferguson regularly advises clients on pending legislation at the Federal and State levels. He has drafted legislation on behalf of various industries, and has testified in Washington, D.C. and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania before House Committees.

He has presented seminars and has been a keynote speaker at events throughout the United States on First-Party and Third-Party automobile insurance, contract review/creation/negotiation, risk management, bad faith claims and general claims handling. Josh has appeared on a variety of radio and online programs, and has published articles in diverse legal and trade association publications. Josh also serves as an Arbitrator/Mediator in Pennsylvania.


Tax Consulting Principal, joined Schaffner, Knight, Minnaugh & Company, P.C. in 1998. He was named the firm's fourth principal in 2006.

After graduating from Strong Vincent High School, Dennis earned his B.S. degree in Accounting from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College in 1982. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1987 and a Personal Financial Specialist in 2001.

With more than 35 years of public accounting experience serving clients in the Erie area, Dennis specializes in corporate and individual income tax consulting and compliance. Dennis 

also manages the tax compliance aspects of Schaffner, Knight, Minnaugh & Company, P.C. He is responsible for the timely delivery of quality tax services.

Dennis provides clients with personal financial planning services, including estate and retirement planning, education funding, and investment analysis.

In addition, Dennis is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as the Tax and Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) divisions. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Dennis volunteers his time by serving Family Services of Northwestern Pennsylvania Board of Director's Vice Chairman as well as chairing the Resource and Planning Committee. Dennis is the vice president of Erie County Case Management. He is also a member of the finance committee of the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership.


Jeremy  Howe previously worked for Snowfighters Institute for three years. Before then he spent 16 years in the hospitality industry, with the last nine being a restaurant manager, before he decided it was time for a change in his career path. Jeremy decided to follow his true passion and go to school for Graphic Design & Marketing.

Jeremy has worked closely with John Allin and the rest of the Snowfighters Institute team to learn the snow management industry. Jeremy produces high-quality marketing materials both for print and web. He now runs his own business called Jeremy Howe Designs.


Jerre Heyer is one of the nation’s foremost experts in snowplows and snow equipment.  His knowledge and engineering expertise have been sought by manufacturers and customers across North America, some driving over 1,000 miles for installation.  He began working on snow removal equipment as a necessity during the 1978 blizzard which delivered over 350” of snow to the rural areas of Erie County.  With a fabrication and repair background, he has repaired equipment that was not designed to withstand the punishment of blizzard conditions. 

Selling more than 350 plows annually, he is one of the nation’s leading dealers in Blizzard Snowplows.  His “Erie Special™” extra heavy-duty modifications have been installed on over 300 Blizzard plows and are under consideration for incorporation into the product line. He has designed and fabricated mounting solutions for hundreds of unusual applications resulting in regular factory referrals.


Matthew is the founder of Mills Insurance Group, LLC

Matthew is also the program manager for Snow Removal Insurance Brokerage. He has worked with insurance agents throughout the US to assist them in the changes facing the snow and ice management industry.

Daniel Gilliland has been working and innovating in the snow and ice industry for over 25 years. Starting as a subcontractor in 1994, he quickly rose to manage snow for a very large snow company in 1996. Daniel utilized his understanding of the management of snow removal and created a proprietary snow removal tracking software system. This system enabled him to monitor his fleet of snow removal professionals in real time for maximum efficiency in fulfilling contracts and creating billing. In 2003, Daniel earned a Certified Snow Contractor (CSP) certification through the Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA). Daniel created 2 companies in 2004; Snowfighters.US, a top 100 snow and ice company, and CrewTracker Software. Daniel sold his two companies in 2012 and 2013 respectively. He now works professionally educating commercial snow and ice contractors throughout North America. His expertise includes the effectiveness of ice control using liquid applications. He also presents regarding the numerous financial and environmental benefits of liquid applications.


Charles Glossop came to the US over 40 years ago from England. He has made his permanent home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Charles owns and operates Hantho Farms LLC-Hantho Outdoor Services, a successful landscape and snow business which produces its own brine for de-icing /pre-treatments. Charles is a recognized expert on the use of liquids in snow and ice management world-wide, is an active member, co-founder, and past president of the Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA), is a Certified Snow Professional (CSP) as recognized by SIMA, consults to snow management contractors in North America, and serves as the Chief Grounds Consultant at Metropolitan Airport in Minneapolis.


In 1979 Richard Gaynor joined Middleton & Company Insurance Agency after graduating from The College of New Jersey/Trenton State.  Richard creates and markets a variety of specialized insurance programs, including those dedicated to the snow and ice management industry. Richard’s educational background includes a degree in Business Administration. Additionally, he received a designation from The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) and was accredited as a Certified Risk Manager (CRM). He is active in the New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association and often provides advice and guidance to members of that Association with respect to insurance issues.

He provides a keen understanding of the protection needs and issues that snow industry companies face. His company of insurance advisors provides educational seminars, webinars, articles, and cost-effective insurance protection programs. Richard assumed the presidency of Middleton & Company in 1995 to continue the commitment to provide business solutions to clients while maintaining strong, profitable growth.



Shelly Kipp’s sales background is built on years of fortuitous business development for both regional and national footprints.
